area development:

economic development, industrial development, or enterprise and economic development beyond the boundary limits of a single community. The boundaries of an area of or for development from smallest to largest extensively increases from that which makes up a basic economy to that which makes up, say, an area in outer space.

A definition of global development identifies area development of worldwide scope. Global development refers to that which is holistic and multi-disciplinary in socioeconomic terms, most often inclusive of problematic situations such as areas of overpopulation, environmental deterioration, lackluster economies, political instability or ineptitude, and unsustainable halcyonic existence. International development is similarly defined within the global context but is often focused on commerce and trade as well as the enterprise and economic development transacted among nations (Area Development: Nations of the World)
