... an expression of the affect on the economy in an area where communities band together for mutual benefit as they seek economic development prospects; efforts made by area and local development representatives in concert with allies to seek, support, and/or service economic development opportunities in a region, as opposed to a single community; a national, regional or similar wide area economic development marketing effort as defined within the context of the following statement published by the American Economic Development Council: The entire set of approaches to economic development practice may be considered a specialized form of marketing. allies

... a loosely organized group of resource and service providers pursuing opportunities of mutual benefit through, for example, a network for enterprise and economic development. Allies within a network range from those engaged as a stakeholders to partners.

Stakeholders aim towards benefiting, without being not managed or controlled, from what goes on, for example, by networking for business development opportunities. Those who form partnerships within networks are typically directly involved financially. Various types of relationships are often touted as partnerships in economic development circles when certain allies work to maintain high profile exposure. For example, a group of stakeholders who can be depended upon to regularly sponsor networking events.
